Where It All Began

Meat & Grain Steakhouse was founded by a team of passionate chefs and hospitality professionals who believed that great steak deserved a great stage. Inspired by the bold steakhouse culture of North America and the exceptional produce of Australia, we set out to create something that would define premium dining on the NSW coast.

Our flagship Wollongong restaurant on Crown Street opened its doors with one simple promise: to serve perfectly cooked steaks in an atmosphere that matched the quality on the plate. That promise hasn't changed.

The Craft of the Chargrill

At the heart of everything we do is our custom-made chargrill. We obsess over doneness — because we know that a perfectly cooked steak, hit with the right amount of smoke and char, is one of life's true pleasures.

Every cut is sourced from carefully selected Australian and Wagyu producers. Our head chefs work directly with suppliers to ensure consistency, provenance, and flavour in every serve.

Following the success of our Wollongong location, we expanded to Newcastle — bringing the same premium steakhouse experience to the Hunter region. Each venue retains the DNA of the original: dark, dramatic interiors, an open kitchen atmosphere, and an unwavering focus on the grill.
